چکیده

Bioactive molecules of plant origin play a significant role as defensive agents in different insect species. Chemical compounds medicinal plants have been an exciting alternative to standard methods controlling mosquito larvae. The present study evaluates the solvent extracts D. hamiltonii for toxicity against three Bioassay revealed that effect methanol increased larval mortality with increasing concentration. highest was observed Culex quinquefasciatus 98.33%, followed by 95 and 90% Aedes aegypti Anopheles stephensi, at 24 h exposure. GC-MS analysis extract showed six major peak compounds. They are benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-(10.35%), dodecanoic acid (11.02%), n-hexadecanoic (21.05%), linoleic methyl ester (14.20%), oleic (21.04%), octadecanoic (22.21%). level α β Carboxylesterases gets significantly decreased post-treatment dose-dependent manner. In contrast, glutathione S-transferase (GST) cytochrome-P450 (CYP450) levels get up-lifted steadily when dosage increased. ratio GST has drastically proclaimed Ae. 0.702 mg/m Lin parallel Cx. quiquefasciatus (0.656 mg/mL) An. stephensi (0.812 mg/mL). Cytochrome P450 activity increase sub-lethal hamiltonii. Correspondingly, non-target screening aquatic predators reveals crude root their derivatives ecologically safe less toxic. Overall, research highlights chemical characterization hamiltonii, insecticidal medically challenging pests, delivers safe, target specific bio-active suitable substitute pesticides.

Antitumor Effect of Decalepis Hamiltonii Root Extract against Ehrlich Ascites Tumor in Mice

The antitumor activity of Decalepis hamiltonii root extract (DHA) was investigated in Ehrlich Ascites Tumor (EAT) cell model in mice and the effect was compared with that of the anticancer drug, cyclophosphamide (CP). Treatment of EAT cell bearing mice with aqueous extract of Decalepis hamiltonii (50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg b.w.) showed a significant reduction in ascites tumor volume, tumor cell co...

Determination of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde in roots of Decalepis hamiltonii (Wight & Arn.) and Hemidesmus indicus R.Br.

The roots of Decalepis hamiltonii and Hemidesmus indicus are aromatic and possess the crystalline compound 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde as the major compound (> 90%) in their volatile oils. A gas chromatographic procedure was developed for the assay of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde in both fresh and dried roots of different origin. Benzyl butyrate was used as the internal standard. Among t...

(Ethyl Butylacetylaminopropionate) and Deet against Mosquito Vectors in Thailand

The insect repellents 3535 (ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate or IR3535) and deet (N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzamide) were prepared as 20% solutions in absolute ethanol and evaluated for repellency against many mosquito species in Thailand under laboratory and field conditions using human subjects. In the laboratory, 0.1 ml was applied per 30-cm2 of exposed area on a volunteer’s forearm (0.66-0.67 m...
